When our job is to interact with lives, organizations, and relationships of clients, regular and systematic reflection on our work is not only useful for our professional effectivity, but critical for our ethical and professional wellbeing.
For new and experienced coach practitioners, I provide a safe space for looking for blind spots and disordered thinking that prevents the coach from seeing the picture accurately. I provide that critical third-person perspective to see one's own role in systems properly. My aim as a coaching supervisor is to act as a co-thinker with other coaches for optimal reflective learning and to be clear and intentional in their actions with clients and within client systems.
As a practitioner with over 14,000 client hours, I know first hand how heavy clients' stories can weigh on a practitioner. I believe every coach needs a space to confidentially share and ponder dilemmas that trouble them, while staying in honor of the client. Being a supervisor allows the coach to use me as a sounding board, a reflecting glass, and a competent set of hands to hold the space for deeper work. I believe working through professional struggles is always easier when you know you have a well trained and competent person behind you for support.
In July 2023, I will be certified as a Reflective Practice and Coaching Supervisor through Coaching Development.
